A national umpiring course is organised.
A new administration is elected to the AEC. |

A new ground is opened in Mallorca and the Mallorca C.C. is formed.
The A.E.C. is restructured.

Columbus Insurance sponsors the National League for three years.
Spanish tour to Italy.
Spain plays against Portugal in Cartama.
Sporting Alfas C.C. is formed.
The MCC tours Spain.
Cricket is recognised as an official sport in Spain.
Agreement made between Javea C.C. and the Council to develop youth cricket. The council agrees to help in the provision of funds and facilities.
The Spanish Association of Umpires and Scorers is formed. |

Spain becomes a member of the European Cricket Federation.
SunAlliance sponsors the Spanish Cup.
MCC coach visits Spain.
A new club is formed in Las Palmas. |

Sponsorship of the Spanish Cup is strengthened.
Spain becomes a founder member of the European Cricket Council and the Spanish chairman is elected onto the Executive Committee.
Keith Shingler is elected Development Officer in Spain and takes advantage of support available from the ICC, MCC and ECB.
Great advances in the provision of Kwik Cricket in Spain. Competitions based on Kwik Cricket have been organised with up to twenty teams competing in them. |

Intellectuals C.C. (Alicante) is founded. |

Cricket is played in Madrid again. |

2002 - |
The new Madrid C.C. is formed and plays its inaugural match against Sporting Alfas C.C. on the Costa Blanca. |

The inaugural Spanish National Cricket League is played with 8 teams. The league is split into two divisions, covering the North and South of the country,
where each team will have to play each other twice. The top two sides from both Northern and Southern conferences will contest the semi-finals, with the final to be decided
in La Manga on the 8th September. |
